Experts

ISDI maintains a roster of experts who are available to provide commentary about steel drums and packaging issues. They are:

  • Kyle R. Stavig, ISDI Chairman and CEO of Myers Container LLC and General Steel Drum LLC

    Mr. Kyle Stavig currently serves as CEO of both Myers Containers LLC and General Steel Drum LLC, two U.S.-based container manufacturers. He also is CEO of Container Management Services LLC, a U.S.-based container reconditioning business. He has been involved in the container manufacturing and reconditioning business for more than 27 years. Stavig has received multiple honors, including being named a finalist Pacific Northwest Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013 and 2014; receiving the Governor’s Award for Innovation in 2012 on behalf of Myers Containers; and receiving the Sustainable Operations Award from the Portland Business Journal in 2011. He is a graduate of Oregon State University. Stavig currently serves as chairman of the Industrial Steel Drum Institute, a role he has filled since 2012, and sits on the board of the Reusable Industrial Packaging Association.

  • Christopher Lind, ISDI Board Member and Director of Technical and Regulatory Affairs, Mauser USA

    ChrisLindMr. Christopher Lind has been the director of technical and regulatory affairs for Mauser USA since 2004. In this role, he is the director of a third party lab with competent authority approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation. He is also a member of several non-governmental organizations with observer status at the United Nations Subcommittee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and the Global Harmonization System for the Classification of Dangerous Goods. Prior to his position at Mauser, Lind spent 27 years with General Chemical, ending as the Director of Environmental Products and Services. His areas of expertise include the manufacturing, use, testing, chemical compatibility, handling and transport of steel drums, plastic drums, fiber drums and intermediate bulk containers. He is also an expert in wastewater management and treatment, and has extensive experience with shipping and moving liquid materials. Lind serves an active participant in many domestic industry and trade associations, including the Industrial Steel Drum Institute and the American Water Works Association (life member).

  • David Nugent, Senior Consultant, Global Risk Consultants

    DaveNugentMr. David Nugent is a senior consultant with Global Risk Consultants. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association’s NFPA 30 technical committee and has more than 33 years of experience in the industrial loss prevention and mitigation field. He is a senior member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and a professional member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. Nugent has written 26 publications on flammable and combustible liquids, reactive chemicals and other fire protection topics. He is a graduate of Rutgers University (B.A., chemistry) and a recipient of the Joseph B. Finnegan Award from the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, Chicago Chapter. Nugent has given numerous presentations in Europe, Latin American and the U.S. at symposia and conferences covering various risk related issues.
