SEVERNA PARK, Md. – The Industrial Steel Drum Institute (ISDI) is pleased to announce that its Steel Drums 101 for Emergency Responders course will now be available virtually through TRANSCAER℠’s recently launched Learning Management System (LMS).
“The LMS will be another valuable asset to the Industrial Steel Drum Institute as we strive to educate and train emergency responders on how to safely handle steel drums,” said Susan Nauman, executive director of ISDI. “Although we will continue in-person trainings and live webinars when possible in the future, introducing an online option is just another way to ensure the safety of both our first responders and the communities they serve.”
By completing ISDI’s educational courses and training programs entirely online, first responders and interested parties can learn about steel drum safety as their schedule permits from the safety of their own home. As an additional benefit, attendees will earn a training certificate upon completion of each course or training.
“TRANSCAER is excited to have ISDI join in the launch of our new online Learning Management System,” said Missy Ruff, chairman of the National TRANSCAER℠ Task Group and Director of Safety and Technical Programs at the Renewable Fuels Association. “In addition to the Steel Drums 101 course, TRANSCAER has released 9 additional online courses today on the LMS, and we look forward to offering more next year.”
TRANSCAER℠ (Transportation Community Awareness Emergency Response) is a national outreach effort led by industry professionals who volunteer their time to support the organizations’ mission. Since 1986, the organization has focused on assisting communities to prepare for and respond to a possible hazardous material transportation incident.
